Hi my name’s Luci and I like to snack. There, I said it. If I can’t get my hands on an apple (it’s a real addiction at this point..) then I quite like Nakd bars – especially the “Crunch” ones but recently, also their new Lemon Drizzle bar. It’s like an actual lemon drizzle cake but in a bar. Made of nuts! But, they’re really hard to find (and also.. not cheap)! Ergo, I made my own lemon drizzle energy balls instead. You could easily shape them into bars if you prefer too.
Keeping things simple
The original Nakd Lemon Drizzle bars contain a beautifully simple list of just seven ingredients:
- a hint of natural flavourings
I actually made mine even simpler and reduced the ingredients to just six things because my cupboards are only so big, and I figure yours are too. Yup, my lemon drizzle copycat bites contain just:
- Lemon extract
Boom! That’s about as complicated as the recipe for these lemon drizzle energy balls gets. They’re so simple and so quick to make I was eating my own lemon drizzle bites only five minutes after deciding that I wanted some.

Make whatever shape you want
If you want, you could easily make these lemon drizzle energy balls into lemon drizzle energy bars – just press them into sausage shapes and square them off with something flat. I tried shaping them into said shape, but when I wrapped one in cling film and popped it into my handbag, it ended up a sort of… squished poop shape. So, I stick with ball-like shapes instead. I have a handy container that houses 2-3 of these delights at a time.

Lemon Drizzle Energy Bites (Nakd Copycat!)

Eating a true lemon drizzle cake every day probably isn't a great idea - but you can enjoy these copycat lemon drizzle energy balls every day!
- Prep: 5 minutes
- Total: 5 minutes
- Serves 10
- Calories 98
- 50g almonds
- 50g cashews
- 20g coconut flakes
- 50g sultanas
- 40g pitted dates
- 1/4 tsp lemon extract
- Put the almonds, cashews and coconut in a blender and blitz until they're a fine crumb.
- Add the lemon extract, sultanas and pitted dates and blend until it comes together into one "lump".
- Divide into 20 and roll into ball shapes. Done!
