Carob Powder Recipes
What the heck is carob powder? Good question. It’s said to aid digestion and lower blood sugar, but I couldn’t find any actual science to fully support these claims. It is low in fat but that’s because it’s generally used as a powder. It is high in calcium though.
It’s arguably sweeter than cacao, but it does have a different profile (in my opinion) so I don’t tend to use or recommend it as a like-for-like substitute.

Spiced Carob Cake Bars (sugar free)
Cake bars, they’re a thing, right? Pinterest agreed when I asked Google, anyway, so I thought I could share these spiced carob cake bars. They’re sandwiched between layers of ooey-gooey date caramel and completely refined sugar-free. I’d say sugar-free, but I’m sure someone would argue about the natural sugar content of dates! So: refined sugar-free, vegan, spiced carob cake bars, let me count the ways I love you.

Carob powder has frightened me for quite some time. Is it silly to be frightened of an ingredient? Probably. But I bought a carob bar that said it was like chocolate. It lied! It wasn’t! So, here’s the straight-up truth: these cinnamon & carob energy bites taste nothing like chocolate. They’re lightly spiced with cinnamon, sweetened with dates, and totally rocking that combo.
